National Training and Data Center

Overview

Under a contract with Virginia Commonwealth University, Social Security Return to Work experts at the Yang-Tan Institute provide technical assistance, training, and certification protocols for all Social Security Administration sponsored Community Work Incentive Coordinators (CWICs) based in SSA Region I – New England. CWIC benefits planning services are focused on prioritizing services for individuals with disabilities who receive benefits based on disability from SSA, are already working, or are about to begin work.

Project Activities

Technical assistance: Technical assistance is comprised of research, providing current information and reviewing the written work of the CWICs to ensure correct and understandable information is passed on to each new worker.

Other activities: National SSA Training and certification protocol, review of benefits summaries and analyses and work incentive plans, availability to CWIC’s having any substantive issues with SSA related benefits and/or services, having regular team meetings with SSA personnel involved with the project
